This is really a glorious time to be living here in Kagawa-ken. I have been here for a number of years, but this is the first year I have been able to get out and really enjoy the sites and sounds that the Setouchi Triennale has to offer. In past years, I have simply been too overwhelmed with work, and with our growing company that teaches kids. Sometimes we got really slowed down due to internal issues, training up some very green staff, and furthering our curriculum to help the kids. I love our company, and we do some cool things, but sometimes (like if you worked on a farm) you gotta get out your shovel and muck out the barn!
Now things have stabilized a lot. We have been able to make some HR changes, clear out some unwanted elements, and revise our curriculum as well. The Setouchi Triennale comes only but once every three years, and while there are permanent art pieces that are enjoyed there are some other terrific things to check out too.
It is easy to fall in love with the Seto Inland Sea. It is calm. It is beautiful. The islands are just glorious to look out on, in any season. The more you look, the more you find.
Here are some images of what can be discovered to whet your appetite!
Don’t delay! The year is slipping away and we are almost into autumn. What we can find in the art festival are a great number of different medium for artistic expression. We have been able to see sculpture and painting, as well as enjoy dance and physical performances as well. There are many interactive activities for kids to get involved with as well. Make sure to pick up a copy of the official 2016 Guidebook to get details on what may fit the age-range or interest of people in your family. My kids have really been having a blast so it is great to get them to see what art is about, that art is something that can connect to your life, and that you can participate within.
Kagawa really is, a very unique and special place. We are lucky to call it our home! And you are warmly welcome to come and share the time and space here with us.
