One of the coolest things to see in Shikoku is the Awa-Odori (Awa Dance) festival. It is lively and cheerful and fun. But what might be even cooler is to be able to participate in the dancing itself. There are teams of performers who train and practice together to deliver phenomenal dances, but there are also opportunities for people to join in as well. The whole event is riotous fun, and not the kind of thing you get to see too easily.
Chris Okano, a truly professional blogger and YouTuber, based in Tokyo made it his mission to visit every prefecture of Japan and create content for people to enjoy. I love the concept, and am deeply impressed with the results. Great stuff!
Here is Chris Okano’s experience with the Awa-Odori in Tokushima. Check it out:
Here is the next video in the series as Chris takes us on his journey to the Iya Valley. It’s pretty cool too!
