Don’t be alarmed, this Dainichiji is where you are supposed to be. There is another and it is back at temple 4, and like the Dainichiji before it is named the same and translated the same too as, “Great Sun Temple”.
The deity of this temple is Kannon, the goddess of mercy. Interestingly enough this Dainichiji was linked with the Ichinomiya Shrine across the street. For a time, until the Meiji era, Shinoism and Buddhism were linked. They were since separated and are considered different paths entirely.
This temple, while a bit compact is simply stunning. I was blown away by the architecture, and in particular the roofing structures. Just take a look!
