Kannonji is spectacular. And one of my favourites for sure. The “Temple of Kannon” is a place where Kannon is worshiped. In the temple grounds you will find an old painting which was created in the 19th century. It depicts a woman on fire who was punished for attacking her mother-in-law with a burning stick. Apparently she spontaneously combusted, but the fire was put out, and she learned the error of her ways. It seems that while at times, Buddhism can be serene and peaceful, karma can be harsh and unexpected.
Be careful with those burning sticks.
