Naoshima is home to a few significant art museums. It has the Benesse House (and Hotel), the Chichi Art Museum (housing paintings by Claude Monet), the Naoshima Fukutake Art Museum, and several outdoor and interactive sculptures. It is a very picturesque place to visit for some art, funky cafes and public bath, as well as the one and only James Bond Museum dedicated to the novel, “The Man With the Red Tattoo”.
Some of the sites are very clean and diligently maintained. Others are more rustic in nature. It really is an beautiful balance, and the environment of sea and hills cannot be beat. Gorgeous, and a must-visit if you are in the area.
